Legalisation:

We can arrange for your documents to be legalised.

For some legal documents to be effective outside the United Kingdom, they must be ‘legalised’. Legalisation is the official confirmation that the signature, seal and stamp of the notary is that of a genuine, practising UK notary public.

Stage one involves the Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO): they verify the notary’s signature and attach an ‘Apostille’ to either your document or to the Notarial Cover Sheet prepared by the notary.

Stage two: some countries require a further verification process from their embassies or consulates. We can do all this for you, and we have access to special expertise – just ask!

If your document is not in English

Lewis Shand, MyNotary Edinburgh, still may be able to notarise it for you.  It rather depends on your knowledge of the language concerned, and your full understanding on the contents of the document.  

What is required?:

Please bring your passport with you and proof of address (such as a utility bill dated within the last six months). This information will enable me to be satisfied of your identity and to attest that you have appeared before me and signed the document in front of me.

It is better to enquire when making an appointment so that I can ensure that the document can be dealt with at the due time.
